SONG
Moviestar is a popular 1975 song, written and performed by Swedish pop singer Harpo . The single was produced and arranged by Bengt Palmers. It reached number 1 in Sweden and Germany, number 3 in Australia and number 24 in the UK. A Swedish language version was also released in Sweden which went to number 1 on the Svensktoppen radio chart on 10 July 1976.

On 27 February 1975, Harpo recorded the song for which he would become most famous - "Moviestar". Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Frida) of ABBA was one of the backing vocalists singing the words "Moviestar, oh Moviestar, ooh". It has sometimes been reported that Agnetha Fältskog also sang on the song but this is incorrect.
The song was covered by the French-German duo Stereo Total on their 1995 release Oh Ah! and used on the soundtrack to the movie The Tao of Steve. The German synthpop band And One covered it on their 1997 album Nordhausen.
The song was used in car commercials on the Swedish TV Channel TV4 in 1996 and 1997.

Movie Star lyrics

Jan Harpo Torsten Svensson in 2013
You feel like Steve McQueen
When your driving in your car
And you think you look like James Bond
 When you're smoking your cigar
 It's so bizarre
 You think you are
The new kind of James Dean
But the only thing I've ever seen of you
Was a commercial spot on the screen

Movie star, oh movie star
You think you are a movie
 Movie star, oh movie star
You think you are a movie - star
 Ah-ha

You should belong to the jet set
Fly your own private Lear Jet
But you worked in a grocery store
Everyday until you could afford to get away
So you went to Sweden to meet Ingmar Bergman
 But he wasn't there
 Or he just didn't care
I think it's time for you my friend
To stop pretending that you are a

[Chorus]
 Movie star, movie star
You think you are a movie
 Movie star, movie star
You think you are a movie star
 Ah-ha

Frozen hero
 Your words are zero
And your dreams have vanished into dark
 And long ago
But you don't want to know

Movie star, oh movie star oh woh oh
You think you are a movie
Movie star, movie star oh woh oh
You think you are a movie, star
