Black and White

Black and White, often abbreviated B/W or B&W, and hyphenated black-and-white when used as an adjective, is any of several monochrome forms in visual arts.
Black-and-white images are not usually starkly contrasted black and white. They combine black and white in a continuum producing a range of shades of gray. Further, many monochrome prints in still photography, especially those produced earlier in its development, were in sepia (mainly for archival stability), which yielded richer, subtler shading than reproductions in plain black-and-white.

Denk niet zwart-wit
Maar in de kleur van je hart

-
Don't think black and white,
But in the colour of your heart
-
Denke nicht schwarz und weiß,
Sondern in der Farbe deines Herzens
-
Nie myśl, że czarno-biały,
Ale w kolorze twojego serca

-
Ne pense pas en noir et blanc,
Mais de la couleur de votre coeur

Theme at T.R.A.C.S Saturday June 30th

You may guess what theme we have......................

Think the impossible as long as it's in black and white.

Should I gather all the pieces
To the puzzle of my life
Should I let bygones be bygones
Take what's left and make it right

Why not take it at face value
See the picture black and white
My night vision's kind of blurry
But I'll try

Get out of my way, get out of my way
From the beginning to the now
We done come a long way
(I see the world in black and white)
I just wanna get higher (higher)
Set the city on fire (fire)
Body all on my back
Won't have it no other way
(Won't have it no other way)

Should I savor every moment
Like we're runnin' out of time
Should I let bygones be bygones
Just to ease each other's minds

Why not take it at face value
See the picture black and white
My night vision's kind of blurry
But I'll try

Get out of my way, get out of my way (get out of my way)
(I see the world in black and white)
From the beginning to the now (beginning to the now)
We done come a long way (come a long way)
I just wanna get higher (higher)
Set the city on fire (fire)
Body all on my back
Won't have it no other way
(Won't have it no other way)

Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya

I see the world in black and white
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
I see the world in black and white
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
I see the world in black and white
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
I see the world in black and white
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya

Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Oh ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya

It don't matter if you're black or white

RIVERDANCE PARTY at T.R.A.C.S

I did fall asleep at the last hour of our party. Not because of the tunes DJ Zee played, he had made a great mix of tunes, but just because I was tired. Some people want to keep Real and Second Life separated. Falling asleep online would never happen to them.
Gladly Tim and my sis Jenna made the group snapshots.

RIVERDANCE

Riverdance is a theatrical show consisting mainly of traditional Irish music and dance. With a score composed by Bill Whelan, it originated as an interval performance act during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, featuring Irish dancing champions Jean Butler and Michael Flatley. Shortly afterwards, husband and wife production team John McColgan and Moya Doherty expanded it into a stage show, which opened in Dublin on 9 February 1995. Since then, the show has visited over 450 venues worldwide and been seen by over 25 million people, making it one of the most successful dance productions in the world.

Irish stepdance is a style of performance dance with its roots in traditional Irish dance. It is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and quick and precise movements of the feet. It can be performed solo or in groups. Aside from public dance performances, there are also stepdance competitions all over the world. These competitions are often called Feiseanna (singular Feis). In Irish dance culture, a Feis is a traditional Gaelic arts and culture festival. Costumes are considered important for stage presence in competition and performance Irish stepdance. In many cases, costumes are sold at high prices and can even be custom made. Males and females can both perform Irish stepdance but for the most part in today's society, the dance remains predominantly female. This means that the costumes are mainly dresses. Each dress is different, with varying colors and patterns, designed to attract the judge's eye in competitions and the audience's eye in performance. General appearance besides the costume is also equally important. Dancers would typically curl their hair before each competition. Many dancers invest in curled wigs that match their hair color. Poodle Socks are worn with the dresses and shoes. These are white socks that stretch to mid calf with distinctive ribbing.

Riverdance, an Irish stepdancing interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest that later became a hugely successful theatrical production, greatly contributed to its popularity. Once Riverdance became a large production, it changed the way that Irish dance was performed and viewed. Now that entrepreneurs could capitalize on Irish culture, they were able to tweak it to the audiences liking. This meant adding theatrical flair to the performance, including arm movements (as opposed to the previously rigid top half that dancers maintained) as well as sexualizing the dance and the costumes. To many this was a betrayal of tradition, but to some it was a way of expanding Irish culture and became widely accepted. Following after Riverdance was Lord of the Dance and many other theatrical productions based on Irish stepdance. Michael Flatley, an Irish stepdancer, became a well-known name within these shows.
Two types of shoes are worn in Irish stepdance; hard shoes, which make sounds similar to tap shoes, and soft shoes (called Ghillies), which are similar to ballet slippers. The dances for soft shoe and hard shoe are generally different and go by different names. Different music with varying beats are played based on the dance, though they all share basic moves and rhythms. Most competitive stepdances are solo dances, though many stepdancers also perform and compete in traditional set and céilí dances. Competition is organized by several organizations, and there are competitions from the local level to world championships.

I may be crazy, don't mind me

I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough

NO PARTY at T.R.A.C.S

There will not be a party, today, at T.R.A.C.S. We hope to see you all on June 16th.
The childhood friends first recorded together as teenagers in 1957, but as Garfunkel began to focus on his academic career, Simon quietly inked a solo side deal. Garfunkel took it as a serious betrayal when he learned of his musical partner's extracurricular endeavors, and the incident would be a sore point in the decades to come.

After the two scored global fame in the mid-Sixties, long-held resentments made the union a ticking time bomb. The detonation occurred in late 1968 when director Mike Nichols offered them both roles in his adaptation of the book Catch-22. Simon's character was cut before production began, so Garfunkel flew solo to shoot in Mexico. Initially Simon had been supportive of the outing, even penning "The Only Living Boy in New York" as a tender good luck for his old friend. But as the three-month film shoot stretched into nearly a year, Simon grew frustrated by the delay.

Garfunkel's eventual return failed to repair relations, and the two clashed over differing musical ideas. Simon had written a song called "Cuba Si, Nixon No," which he presented as a potential 12th track on what would become Bridge Over Troubled Water. Garfunkel, turned off by its overt political commentary, suggested doing a Haitian Creole chorale called "Feuilles-O." Neither side would budge. The album was released with only 11 songs, and the pair decided to go their separate ways.

It was during a professional nadir in 1981 that they agreed to reunite at a free concert in New York's Central Park. The performance became of one of the biggest musical events in history, drawing an unparalleled 500,000 people to the Great Lawn. A world tour was planned for May 1982, but it wasn't long before they fell into the same destructive patterns. Things weren't any better in the studio as they worked on an all-new Simon & Garfunkel album to be called Think Too Much. In the end, Simon wiped Garfunkel's vocal tracks and set about finishing the songs as a solo effort.

Eyebrows were raised during their somewhat frosty Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction speech in 1990. Garfunkel started off sincere, saying, "I want to thank most of all the person who has most enriched my life by putting these great songs through me: My friend Paul here." It should have been a touching moment of reconciliation, save for Simon's parting joke. "Arthur and I agree about almost nothing," he said. "But it's true, I have enriched his life quite a bit, now that I think about it."
The men hit the road for high-profile reunion tours in 1993, 2003 and 2010, but it never stuck. The same unexplainable force that blends their voices together in celestial harmony also compels them to spend the majority of their time apart.
