Gins Allen

After being absent for a long time, Gins Allen was back online this week. Saturday he did a performance at Guthrie’s Folk Club. Gins did sing a lot of songs of Bob Dylan. Gins said he was in a Dylan mood because of the European tour of Bob Dylan. At first Gins would sing an hour but after the first hour and a short break he did a second hour and his voice stayed on key, till the end.

Finally, after weeks that we looked forward to it and I in stress if everything would go well, we had our third concert in the club. This time the concert was not in the Event Hall, but in the club itself where I made a small stage. We had 74 guest and for the period of a time 54 people on the sim. Later, when I did read the list of the people, I saw that there where much friends that I forgot to great. I apologize for that. Gladly Miss Lauren Thespian did greet the guest when they arrived. I just wonder how she did that.

Tim started with the best French chansons and slowly the people dropped in. 

Rod was one of the first guests. I think he slept there not to miss a thing.

OneSummer Oh (a other SL artist) was one of the first guests.

Bernard was early to. The dance floor was full shortly Lisa Brune started to sing.

What can I say about Lisa? You all know that I am a big fan of her.

 After Lisa did her performance, Gins Allen sung a great mix of songs.

I had a great time. Thanks to Lisa, Gins, Jacky, Popov, Lauren and all the friends and guest. My special thanks go to Tim and Rod for there love and support.

Lisa Brune was born near Paris in 1978 and she was lulled by the music listened by her Mum : Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone as well as french artists named Leo Ferré, Georges Brassens or Serge Reggiani. During her teenage years she went to sleep listening Noir Desir, Alain Baschung, Nirvana…

It was in 2000 when she started to write her own songs with the help of her boyfriend and took part in a project for and made by students on the theme of Alice in Wonderland with the aim of helping in drug usage prevention. This project has been built during 2 years and led to 2 public performances. Her musical tastes become more precise when she discovers bands like Portishead, Massive Attack, Wax Tailor or The Gathering expanding her influences : from Rock to Trip Hop.

Lisa works in coup de coeur. Even if its musical preferences are particularly rock (in the broad sense, old rock,  current rock and rock metal), the trip-hop and jazz / blues artists, she can also have a sudden passion for Electro, rap or any other style.

Lisa arrived in Second Life out of curiosity and since 2009 she listens and discovers artists who are making the treasures of the live performances in SL.

She founded "Tree of Lovers" in January 2010 with J4ck Nichols, this place is dedicated to live performances and about 50 artists from different styles and backgrounds.

Supported by her BF (RL and SL), Lisa started to sing in world in July 2010.

She was invited in venues from different communities (french, italian, norwegian, german, american).

Thanks to concerts Lisa met Nemo Kranfel, a musician with whom she commit "musical crimes" by diverting, reinventing, original songs like "In Your Room" from Depeche Mode.

She sings mainly covers but Lisa wants to write her own songs as she did with a last song "Dry tears".

Gins Allen plays acoustic and electric guitars and harmonicas. He sings love songs, ballads and folk songs.

He started to play in SL in june 2008.

He loves to sing in many languages such as English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Yiddish, Catalan or even Czech and Russian...

His gigs are only live music, no soundtracks, and of high quality sound on profesionnals devices.

Hallelujah

That song is often Gins Allen last song at his concerts.

"Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, originally released on his studio album Various Positions (1984). Achieving little initial success, the song found greater popular acclaim through a cover by John Cale, which later formed the basis for a cover by Jeff Buckley. In recent years several cover versions have been performed by a large number and broad range of artists, both in recordings and in concert. The song has also seen significant use in film and television soundtracks, as well as televised talent contests such as The X Factor.

Cohen's original version contains several biblical references, most notably evoking the stories of Samson and traitorous Delilah from the Book of Judges as well as the adulterous King David and Bathsheba: "she cut your hair" and "you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you".

Yesterday Rod was online for several hours. He promised that he would be more often with Tim and me and not just for the parties. And what did I do? I took them to a party. Okay it was to let them listen to a new DJ that I found for a future party at T.R.A.C.S. But still not the best thing one could do when your lover is not that often on Second Life.
I'm sorry Rod.

When he had to go, Tim and I stayed a little longer. Than Bono, one of the owners of the The Guitar Museum, send me an IM and ask me if I would like to come for Jaguar's (she is host at The Guitar Museum) birthday party. After the cake and a performance of Spike Luckstone another artist was announced. We never did hear this singer sing and we decided to stay. Good we did.

Last week I been to two concerts 
and Saturday I was at the wedding of Emma and Moren.

Thursday I first went to the weekly concert of Ricky Flow at Spiridon.

Later Gandalle joint me.

After Ricky's concert I went to the concert of Gins Allen.

This was my first vampire wedding. The dress code was white so I got in my white tux.

Emma  was a lovely bride, dressed all in red.  

She was gorgeous when she smiled. 

After the wedding Ricky did sing some great songs. Emma had trouble to rez but finally the smoke cleared and the party could really start.  

Jenna came later and when Beef, the DJ, played his tunes, Jenna danced till the end.

Last week Tim and I went to a concert of Gins Allen. 
It was our first after Gins summer break.

 We did hear for the first time the song he composes himself.

Pink weekend

A pink weekend it was last weekend, in real and in Second Life.

First there was the Pink Saturday here in Groningen.

Pink Saturday in Groningen went without significant incidents. Estimated between forty and fifty thousand people came to the party. The feast began Saturday with an ecumenical celebration in the Martini Church. During the service was entered on the theme "space of encounter '. Predecessor Mary Metzlar called on those present to listen to the other, even though that other another religion or a different cultural background.

No Pink Saturday is complete without parade. It was also participated by about 50 police officers and for the first time by the fire department.

A notable appearance in the Parade was the 40-metre-long Rainbow flag worn by showband Marum. The ' Euro Pride Flag ', as it is called, is specially flown in from Brussels and was already in Warsaw and Rome to admire.

 During this Pink Saturday Groningen had the honour of this immense Rainbow flag to show to the public.

Members of the Groningen Municipal Council and employees of the municipality cycled in the parade on pink cycling.

The Feast was musically graced by several performances by, among others, Jim Bakkum, Miss Montreal and the Vengaboys. There was also a particular action of the anniversaries of Gruno's TNT Post harmony in cooperation with the gay choir "Zangzaad".

Next year Pink Saturday is in Haarlem.

In Second Life there was Friday the party at Open Minds. Again I forgot to make pictures.

Also I not made pictures at a party at Club7Arts. 

I did chat with Sevenart about gay movies and he recommend to watch Fellini's movie "Satyricon". Its one of his favourites, he told me. "Dead in Venice" is still one of my favourites. I did get a copy of "Satyricon" so I can watch it soon. It seems that good gay movies are made by Italians. ~grins~

Okay, Death in Venice is based on the novella Death in Venice by Thomas Mann and he was German.

Saturday we had our party at T.R.A.C.S. with DJ Racker. He did a great job and we hope we will have him back, as guest DJ, in September.

At 11 CET, the party at Fabulous starts, so when I cleaned the club and put off the lights, I went to the pub for the crazy shorts and skirts party.

Sunday (at 3 am CET) there is always the party at Coral Reef.

Ellbee is so often at our parties and I so less at Coral Reef that I got my Dutch flag swim trunks on at went to the party there. 

Again I forgot to make pictures.

In Sweet Grass, also on Sunday, the Tattered & Torn Party.

 Gany made the picture of the winners.

 Last, but not least, I have to mention that Gins Allen have a concert on Friday July 8th.
