1920s gay pin-up

On Thursday, 6 May 2010 I post some pictures of Herbert Ritts. That was because I as looking for some pictures for our party. Tomorrow we have a Roaring 20s party at T.R.A.C.S. and again I found some pictures that I have to show you.
They have been published in VMAN Magazine.
Vman #13 (Spring 2009) celebrates the male physique with this delicious editorial ‘True to Form’ by photographer Willy Vanderperre. Models Nils Butler, Bastiaan Ninaber, Alex Loomans, and Tristan Knight were styled by Olivier Rizzo. A definite retro vibe of the 1920s gay pin-up spreads.

Willy Vanderperre is a fashion photographer who was born in 1971 in Belgium. He studied Photography and Fashion at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, which he attended alongside many of the key Belgian fashion designers of his generation. There he met his longstanding collaborator Raf Simons. Vanderperre regularly contributes to magazines including Arena Homme Plus, Another Magazine and Another Man, Pop, L'Uomo Vogue, V , VMan, and many others. He’s also done campaigns for Raf Simons, Jil Sander, Fred Perry, Givenchy, and Aquascutum. Recent advertising campaigns have included Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Azzaro and Raf Simons.

Willy Vanderperre has a style that you can spot easily by their soft colours and natural lighting; it’s gorgeous, technically perfect, minimal, and thoughtful. Once you learn he studied fashion and photography in Antwerp this sensibility and aesthetic makes complete sense, as you can see it’s of the pedigree of the infamous Antwerp Six School of design. It surprises me that I don’t see his work or even hear Willy’s name more often.
